As part of the mission of Our Daily Bread, we strive to provide a welcoming space for individuals to come together. Our upper lobby serves as a soup kitchen Monday through Friday from 9:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Each day our staff and volunteers prepare a meal that typically includes 1 protein, 1 hot vegetable, 1 salad, bread, and fruit as well as pastries and donuts, coffee, tea and water. Guests are encouraged to go through the line as many times as they need to get their fill. We can seat approximately 68 people at a time, with individuals constantly cycling through the line. On average we serve between 400 and 500 meals a day. The soup kitchen is run by our staff and approximately 25 volunteers each day. All of the food used to prepare meals is donated by generous volunteers and local and regional businesses.
HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?
We welcome volunteers over the age of 14 to help out in our kitchen Monday – Friday from 9:00am – 12:00pm.
If you are short on time, but would like to donate items we are grateful for that as well. Here are some items of which we are always in need:
Coffee Creamer (powder)
Salad dressing & other condiments
Paper products: Napkins, Toilet Paper, Kleenex
DONATION DROP OFF
Monday, Friday and Holidays 8:30am - 12:00pm
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 8:30am - 2:00pm
You can deliver items to our donation door in the back alley. If you are heading south on Race, make a left on Elder, and then an immediate right behind our building. Follow the arrows to the green door and ring the bell. Someone will help you unload and you can be on your way. No parking necessary.
