Born and raised on the West Side of Cincinnati in the Cheviot/Westwood area, Connie Metzner worked as a full-time daycare provider for 29 years before joining the Our Daily Bread family.
A loving mother of 5 with 3 grandchildren and a new one on the way, Connie prides herself on being an advocate for children. She loves working with them and they have always been part of her life, she says, because she relates to them and their experiences. “I know that I have made a difference in kids’ lives. I am a loving and nurturing person and I bring that over into how I take care of kids.”
Connie always wanted to volunteer with Our Daily Bread’s Kids Club program, so naturally she was excited by the opportunity to work as a Kids Club Assistant. Connie’s job is to help in the after school program, assisting with homework, playing with the kids and providing a daily healthy snack. Connie especially loves the one-on-one interactions, “ I love talking to them and being there for them if they are having a bad day. The kids always know that they have a listening ear if they need it.” Fulfilled in her role, Connie says she loves the kids. “I think we are making a difference in their lives by providing a stable and safe environment where they are learning respect because we give them the respect that they deserve.”
Outside of Our Daily Bread, Connie’s hobbies include swimming 5 days a week at the YMCA, spending time with her grandkids, gardening and cooking. She raised her 5 children with her husband Rob of 32 years.
