Each holiday season we are reminded of the goodness of others, thanks to the influx of both old and new volunteers, and donations that support us in our mission. One of our supporters, Brian Hudson, takes a creative approach to helping Our Daily Bread.
For the third year in a row, Hudson, of Edgewood, Kentucky, turned his home and yard into a fantastical winter wonderland. This year Hudson put up more than 30,000 lights, dozens of handmade cartoon characters, and invited the community to come out and donate canned goods to Our Daily Bread.

The lights were up for all to view from December 1st through 31st. Mid-month, on December 13th Hudson hosted the Young Professional Carol Collective for the 3rd Annual Christmas Caroling Event with the goal of bringing in more donations. Over a hundred people came out to sing along with carolers and support the cause. The event was free, with Hudson only asking that those who attend bring canned goods. By the end of the event all the barrels were full, and by the end of the month Hudson had collected 1,117 pounds of food. Hudson delivered these canned goods to Our Daily Bread on Wednesday, January 6th. We are grateful for Brian and his innovative giving efforts.
