In 2005 we started our Employee Stabilization Program as an extension of our outreach to lessen the burdens of poverty and hunger by providing jobs to area residents who wish to assist us in our mission. Many participants are former guests who have a unique perspective of our mission and strong desire to give back to our organization. Currently, all participants live within a 4 mile radius of Over-the-Rhine.
Many program employees would be considered unemployable because each has one or more of the following barriers: mental illness, addiction histories, legal issues, learning disabilities or inconsistent work histories. Objectives of our on-site program include successfully strengthening job and interpersonal skills and decreasing inappropriate work behaviors among participants. Ongoing training, continuing education, evaluation and communication are instrumental to the program’s success.
